Description

Greater Fort Lauderdale boasts definitive examples of the architectural styles popular during the Mid-century Modern period, as well as the entire array of building types built during the period. In addition to Charles McKirahan’s crowd-pleasing, light-hearted artistic oeuvre, there is Dan Duckham and other architects such as William Vaughn who sought to adapt the ideals of Frank Lloyd Wright to the flat, subtropical landscape of southern Florida. Somewhere in the middle lies the work of Robert Hansen as well as a host of lesser known architects designing scores of ranch homes, churches, office buildings, hotels, roadside follies, government buildings and the Tiki palace by which all other are judged. Enter properties not usually open to the public too, on this four-hour bus tour with walking.
